For those who are interested, the agriturismo offers contact on a small scale with a working farm/smallholding;  an educational experience, as well as a holiday. Sheep, goats and our Jersey cows graze on the pastures, producing delicious milk and meat. The chickens, of many different species, are free range and live in harmony with ducks, geese, turkeys, quails and doves, in addition to rabbits. The two horses are interesting extras and our friendly donkey may be able to offer rides. Our pigs forage around under the olive trees and wallow in the mud as they please. Other animals include cats and our Australian Shepherd and Border Collies who help us take the animals to grass or just hang around for cuddles!

The Australian Shepherd, commonly known as an Aussie, is a breed of dog that was developed on ranches in the western United States.

For many years, Aussies have been valued by stockmen for their versatility and trainability. They have a similar look to the popular English Shepherd and Border Collie breeds. While they continue to work as stockdogs and compete in herding trials, the breed has earned recognition in other roles due to their trainability and eagerness to please, and are highly regarded for their skills in obedience. Like all working breeds, the Aussie has considerable energy and drive, and usually needs a job to do. It often excels at dog sports such as dog agility, flyball, and frisbee. They are also highly successful search and rescue dogs, disaster dogs, detection dogs, guide, service, and therapy dogs and obviously are the perfect family dog!

As everyone knows the Border Collie is said to be the most intelligent breed of dog, they are herding dogs developed in the English-Scottish border region for herding livestock, especially sheep. Border Collies are typically extremely energetic, acrobatic, intelligent and athletic, they frequently compete with great success in dog sports, in addition to their success in sheepdog trials but again make the most perfect pets as long as you have the time and energy they need dedicated to them.
